Insurance Pre-Certification

Most insurance companies require pre-certification of non-emergency services. This is usually the responsibility of the patient and their physician. Failure to obtain pre-certification could result in non-payment of the hospital bill by the insurance company. At the time of registration, patients are requested to assign insurance benefits to the hospital. Patients who wish to bill their own insurance will be required to pay for these services during the registration process.

If obtaining pre-certifications, the physicians can write the number on the order or call the pre-certification hotline at 678.312.4095.

Pre-certification must be received prior to the scheduled test being performed.

GMC offers a pre-certification service for specific procedures (MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine, CT, PET, SPECT and Interventional Radiology). To enroll in this service you must receive training and a specialized order form. For more information, contact the Physician Relations Department at 678-312-5344.

Uninsured Patients

Uninsured patients are eligible to receive a prompt pay discount of up to 40 percent of charges if payment is made prior to service. Gwinnett Medical Center accepts cash, check, credit cards and debit cards. The 40 percent discount does not apply to all services.

For price estimates, call the price estimation line at 678-312-4212. Due to the time and research required to provide estimates, we ask all callers to leave a message. When leaving your message, please be sure to let us know if the patient is uninsured.
